404 Love Not Found
404 Love Not Found lyrics
A song about broken links and connections that 404
Lyrics
Clicked on your profile at 2 AM
But the page won't load again
Maybe I typed the URL wrong
Or maybe you've been gone too long
I'm refreshing, but you're not there
Just white space and empty air
I followed every breadcrumb you left
But the trail went cold, nothing's left
My analytics say you're ghosting me
Zero engagement, no CTR
404, love not found
I keep searching but you're not around
Broken links where your heart used to be
Lost conversion, you're done with me
404, can't redirect this pain
Every click just leads to nowhere again
Server's down, and I'm spinning alone
404, love not found, you're gone
Checked my cookies, cleared my cache
But I can't recover what we had
Your love was like a landing page
High bounce rate, couldn't make you stay
I optimized for all the wrong things
Now I'm stuck in this retry loop routine
Tried incognito just to see
If you'd come back differently
But every path leads to the same
Error message, no domain
404, love not found
I keep searching but you're not around
Broken links where your heart used to be
Lost conversion, you're done with me
404, can't redirect this pain
Every click just leads to nowhere again
Server's down, and I'm spinning alone
404, love not found, you're gone
The page you are looking for
has moved permanently
or no longer exists
Please check the URL
and try again
But I've tried a thousand times
And you're still offline
404, love not found
I keep searching but you're not around
Broken links where your heart used to be
Lost conversion, you're done with me
404, can't redirect this pain
Every click just leads to nowhere again
Server's down, and I'm spinning alone
404, love not found
Love not found, 404
Love not found, 404
You're gone
Behind the Lyrics
This started as a joke in a Slack channel. One of the freelancers I work with wrote: "My love life has a 404 status code. The page you're looking for doesn't exist and probably never did." I replied: "More like a 301. She permanently redirected to someone else." (We joke like that. It wasn't harsh. Don't judge too hard.) We then spent an hour turning HTTP status codes into relationship metaphors, and somewhere in there I realised it was a song. A 503 is "not available right now, try again later". A 429 is when you've texted too many times and she's rate-limiting you. A 401 is turning up at the party and realising you were never authorised to be there. My favourite is 418, "I'm a teapot": short, round and full of hot feelings nobody asked for. The real story underneath is an old breakup of my own that felt exactly like debugging a broken redirect chain. Everything pointed somewhere else. "It's not you, it's me": redirect. "I just need space": another redirect. "We can still be friends": 404. That page has never existed anywhere on the internet. An indie ballad, slow and slightly glitchy, because heartbreak at 2am doesn't feel like a dramatic scene. It feels like refreshing a page that won't load.
