Lyrics

Intro
2

Oh, they say it’s just pictures...

3

Oh, they say it’s just words...

Verse 1
6

Remember the days of the developer’s tears?

7

"Too many frameworks!" they cried through the years.

8

React for the morning, and Angular noon,

9

We patted their backs, said, "It’ll end soon."

10

Oh, poor little coders, so stressed by the tech,

11

While we just wrote copy and collected a check.

12

Put up a billboard, bought a TV ad,

13

Marketing life really wasn't that bad.

14

But the universe laughed, the algorithm flipped,

15

And the marketer’s script got entirely ripped.

Pre-Chorus
18

Now who is the one with the tech stack pain?

19

Now who has the data melting their brain?

20

We carry the weight of a thousand apps,

21

Trying to fill in the digital gaps!

Chorus
24

I am the vibe-coder, making it flow.

25

I am the scientist, watching it grow.

26

I am the analyst, crunching the sheet.

27

I am the psychologist, finding the beat.

28

But the hardest part? The ultimate scar?

29

Everyone thinks they’re a marketing star!

30

"My cousin can do it," "Just make a meme!"

31

Killing the soul of the marketing dream.

32

Everybody knows best, ay! (Everybody knows best!)

33

But nobody runs the test, ay! (Nobody runs the test!)

Verse 2
36

I’m writing the prompt to generate code,

37

Fixing the front-end before it explodes.

38

I'm querying SQL to find out the truth,

39

Analyzing the trauma of Gen-Z youth.

40

I know why they click, I know why they scroll,

41

I'm looking right into the customer's soul.

42

I built the predictive model from scratch,

43

Ensuring the tone and the visuals match.

44

Then here comes the boss with a coffee in hand,

45

Saying, "My ten-year-old nephew could manage this brand."

Pre-Chorus
48

Now who is the one with the tech stack pain?

49

Now who has the data melting their brain?

50

We carry the weight of a thousand apps,

51

Trying to fill in the digital gaps!

Chorus
54

I am the vibe-coder, making it flow.

55

I am the scientist, watching it grow.

56

I am the analyst, crunching the sheet.

57

I am the psychologist, finding the beat.

58

But the hardest part? The ultimate scar?

59

Everyone thinks they’re a marketing star!

60

"My cousin can do it," "Just make a meme!"

61

Killing the soul of the marketing dream.

Bridge
64

It’s funny... it’s tragic... the irony stings.

65

We master the math and the psychological strings.

66

We left the old developers far, far behind,

67

To become the ultimate master of mind.

68

Yet a guy from accounting looks at my screen...

69

Says, "Can you just make the logo more green?

70

It's easy, right? You just post it online."

71

I force a smile... and I say... "Yeah, it's fine."

Outro
74

Vibe-coder! (Can you make it go viral?)

75

Scientist! (I don't like that shade!)

76

Psychologist! (Can we get more followers?)

77

Analyst! (My wife uses TikTok!)

78

Everybody knows best, ay! (Everybody knows best!)

79

But nobody runs the test, ay! (Nobody runs the test!)

80

Welcome to twenty-twenty-six...

81

Where we do it all... while taking your tips.

Behind the Lyrics

A few years ago I'd have described my job as strategy and copy. Now, in a normal week, I'm also writing prompts that generate code, fixing front-end problems before a client sees them, digging through data to find out what actually happened, and maintaining the Clicks & Swagger site myself on React and Supabase through Lovable. I never planned to become a part-time developer. The job just kept absorbing skills. I remember when developers were the ones complaining about the framework treadmill: React in the morning, Angular by lunch, something new by Friday. We marketers sympathised from a safe distance, thinking their tech stack pain was the peak of corporate suffering. The universe has a sense of irony. Marketing has become the dumping ground for every specialised skill going: vibe-coder, data analyst, behavioural psychologist, copywriter, all in one chair. And the kicker, the reason this song has that heavy, melancholic groove, is the respect that comes with all of it. Barely any. You can be wiring an API into a reporting stack and someone from accounting will lean over and ask if you can make the logo more green. It's easy, right? You just post it online. His nephew could do it. Highlife is joyful music built on serious skill: guitars and horns that sound effortless because the people playing them are very, very good. That's the marketer's position exactly. It should look easy. That's precisely why everyone thinks it is.
